Since her first tap class at age 4, Katie
Tranzillo has enjoyed and studied dance and the related fields of music, yoga and movement arts. She has traveled all over
the US to study with and get certified by master teachers and dancers. She has trained with the Mark Morris Dance Center in
Brooklyn, to lead dance programs for people with Parkinson's disease. Residing in midcoast Maine, she is building a strong
swing dance community.
She has been leading dance programs for over 16 years,
with children, teens, adults, seniors, and people with disabilities, from rote beginners to advanced dancers, in partnered,
individual, and group dances. Programs include: swing, lindy hop, blues, charleston, west coast swing, creative dance, technique
and styling, basic classes in salsa and African dance, Dance for Fitness, Shake Your Soul®, YogaDance®, Dance Explorers, Zumba®, Zumba Kids®, Dance is for Every-Body, and Dancing with Parkinson's®.
A licensed speech-language
pathologist, she works effectively with all ages, as a therapist, consultant, supervisor and mentor. She brings together her
professional teaching skills, with her experience with dance, movement and music, to guide students in their own unique enjoyment
of movement and dance.
